The Three Titles

The book teaches the system. The companions make it stick.

Book One

Health by Habit

by Alan D. Martin

The framework book

Three parts, ten chapters, and a clear protocol for building a health practice that works for men over 50 — without overhauling your life. Built on neuroplasticity, behavioral science, and the hard-won experience of someone who had to rebuild from scratch.

  • Why your current system is failing you
  • The science of habit formation after 50
  • Motion, food, sleep — what matters and in what order
  • The 90-day roadmap that turns the system into a plan

Book Two

The Drive Workbook

by Alan D. Martin

Habit Builder · The lifelong tool

Where habit work happens for the rest of your life. Building new habits is never finished. Fixing broken ones is never finished. The Drive Workbook is the printed tool for both — a structured commitment page, per-habit First Gear and Second Gear tracking, and the diagnostic protocol for when the Drive stalls. Built around BRASS — Built by Goal, Repeatable, Adaptable, Stackable, Sustained by momentum.

  • The science of bad habits — why change is hard and what changes that
  • Per-habit First Gear and Second Gear tracker pages
  • Habit Stacking — the cadence frame: start with one, stack the next
  • Diagnostic protocol for stuck moments — trace the broken link, smallest possible fix

Book Three

The Tracker

by Alan D. Martin

The daily evidence tool

Daily evidence. Body baseline. Workout logging. Food planning. The book that travels with the man — gym bag, desk, kitchen. The execution layer where the habits designed in the Drive get logged, the body data accumulates, and the workouts get done.

  • 90-day Daily Drive pages — five minutes morning, ninety seconds evening
  • Body baseline: numbers, body inventory
  • Workout protocols and food planning
  • Six Moves Quick Reference — the field guide at the back

Premium Edition available — personalized cover, six AI-curated routines, QR-linked video. See below.

The Digital Companion

The Journal is online — and always with you.

Daily intention, annual goals, project ideas, travel plans, and the bucket list — what used to be a printed journal is now a web tool that adapts as you grow. The Helm lives inside your subscription, alongside the Drive App and The Galley meal planner. Synced across desktop and phone. Generates a printable monthly summary if you still want something on paper.

The Personalized Edition

Your name on the cover. Your routines inside.

Most habit trackers feel generic because they are. The Premium Edition of the Tracker is the opposite — black cloth cover with your name embossed in gold, six routine pages built around the moves you actually want to do, and a QR code for each so the trainer is one scan away when you need a refresher. Personalized at order. Ships within seven days of your setup.

Embossed cover.

Black cloth wrap, your name in gold on the lower right. The HBH apple debossed on the front.

Six routines, named.

Strength, cardio, and flexibility — easy and challenging versions of each. Pulled from our curated library, your favorite YouTube workouts, or your own picks. AI names the moves the way the strength literature does, not the way the trainer joked about them.

QR to video.

Each routine page links to its source. First three sessions: scan and watch. After that, you'll know.

Inside Health by Habit

Ten chapters. One clear direction.

Part I — Taking Charge

The mindset and habits underneath everything else

Quarterback of Your Health

No doctor, pill, or quick fix saves you if you don't take charge. Why outsourcing your health is the first mistake — and what shifts when you step in as the architect of your own future.

The Power of Habits

Why habits run your life — for better or worse. The Drive, the four gears, identity statements, and BRASS — the system that makes the right choice automatic.

Why Most People Quit

What separates the men who rebuild from the men who restart every January. Cues, friction, the habit loop, and how to make commitment hold.

Part II — The Pillars

The three things that move the body forward

Motion Is Medicine

Rethinking pain. Moving into it rather than away from it. How to build a movement practice that works with the aging body rather than against it.

Food Is Medicine

Food as information, not calories. Five principles that work. The first two weeks. Eating out without getting eaten. From habit to identity.

Sleep and Recovery

The most undervalued performance variable. The biology of sleep stages, HRV, the sleep prescription, and recovery as the multiplier on everything else.

Part III — The Long Game

What sustains everything you've built

Mindset and Stress

The hidden drivers behind your decisions. The power of mindset. What chronic stress does to the body and how to work it down.

The Long Game

Adaptation over surrender. Brain training. What the Blue Zones already know. Retirement as a health crisis. Community and contribution as medicine.

Your Roadmap

The 90-day sequence that turns everything you've read into a plan with a starting line. Thirty days to baseline, thirty to build, thirty to review and commit.

Call to Action

Not a summary. A direct conversation about why this window — the one you're in right now — is the one that matters, and what to do with it.

About the Author

Not a researcher. Not a trainer. A man who had to figure it out.

Alan D. Martin spent 30 years building businesses while his health quietly eroded. Chronic back pain, a deteriorating knee, an ankle that changed how he moved — he walked with a cane at 59. Nine procedures in fourteen months and no doctor with a real answer for why the inflammation kept coming back.

On September 1, 2023, he decided that was the last chapter of that story. The books he read, the protocols he tested, and the habits he built — and rebuilt — became the foundation for everything in this collection.

He writes not as someone who has always been healthy, but as someone who genuinely understands what it takes to start over — and what works when motivation isn't enough.
